Hungary's principal airport is Ferihegy, Budapest. Scheduled carriers such as BA and Malev fly to Terminal 2, budget carriers to Terminal 1.

Scheduled carriers are British Airways flying up to four times daily from London Heathrow with connections from many regional airports and Malév, the Hungarian national airline fly direct from London Gatwick or via Prague from Edinburgh or Manchester. They also fly from Dublin and Cork while Aer Lingus fly direct from Dublin

Budget carriers from the UK to Budapest are Wizzair flying from London Luton, Sky Europe from London Stanstead and Easyjet from London Gatwick or Luton.

Travellers wishing to fly from smaller regional airports can choose to fly Air France to Paris or KLM to Amsterdam from where there are onward flights.

Visitors who prefer a more leisurely trip can travel by train from London Waterloo, via Paris and Vienna. Check out Rail Europe for more information.

If you are feeling adventurous, you can always drive. With so many Channel crossing options, there are numerous routes from which to choose but, from Calais, your journey will be about 960 miles / 1550 km. and you can check out your route HERE

Ryanair operates a budget service direct to FlyBalaton Airport at Sármellék near the western end of Lake Balaton from London Stansted.
